So I coordinate all of our educational opportunities as well as our events which stem from smaller networking events, workshops, education events, to our larger annual conference. INFRA is a purchasing cooperative for independently owned natural and organic grocery stores. So in addition to the monetary benefits of collaborating with other businesses, we also provide educational and networking opportunities. Our annual conference is primarily funded by our vendor partners and sponsors. We have a lot of different constituents who play into this event. So we have our sponsors who make a big splash and, you know, they make the show possible. We have an education day, a full education day. So we&#8217;re working with speakers, and that&#8217;s where our attendees come in. So we have our member attendees. These are the store staff and store owners. And then we have a full day of tabletop buying shows, then we bring in a whole another seven hundred people for, yeah, a trade show basically. So they bring in their boots and they&#8217;re selling product, talking with their members. The way we used to do badge printing was a mail merge into a word document, and then we had print that in office. And it took many iterations and a lot of paper and a lot of ink and a lot of hours just to even test to make sure we have the branding looked on the name tag, things like that. So that was maybe like the week before we had spent three full days just testing printing to make sure the badges looked how we wanted. And that&#8217;s before we even loaded in the user data. So twenty twenty three was a learning experience. It&#8217;s our first time having Badge Printer on-site. But in twenty twenty four, we knocked it out of the park. We got really cool, firm plastic lanyards. We color coded them because we have three different main attendee types. So, you know, sponsors, the exhibitors, and then our attendees. And so we were able to have different colored badges so people could see you from across the room if you&#8217;re someone who they need to talk to, if you&#8217;re a retailer. The attendee would come to the conference and go up to our check-in desk where they would either register if they hadn&#8217;t done so before. So that was something we&#8217;d never been able to do before is register someone on-site and then get all that data on the back ends of things. So register or just check-in either with their QR code from their confirmation email, or they could just look up their name because not everyone remembers to bring their QR code. And then they would, the badge would print up on the little screen. They would check it over, make sure it looks right, print right there. We would clip on the lanyard for them, get them their swag items. You know, always have a little like water bottle, a notebook, and then hand over badge and everything else fun right over to the person and then send them up to the conference. With getting the on-site badge printing from EventMobi, we also have an on-site badge staff person that comes with it. So they&#8217;re there to help. So if anything goes wrong at any of those kiosks, if someone has a question, if someone didn&#8217;t register and needs to do that or fix something on the name tag, that person is there. And that person also takes the time to train the check-in staff desk. So this is our badge. So we had, yeah, this fun plastic, on the bottom, and then what&#8217;s printed is like the little sticker. It&#8217;s a clear sticker that goes on top. So that was really easy too if mistakes happen or if you needed to reprint something, you can still utilize the underlying badge. But, yeah, first name, last name, and our rule of thumb is we want people to be able to read someone&#8217;s name from across the room. So that&#8217;s always the biggest and boldest thing on the badge. And then we have job title closely followed by the company name, which again, bolded because that&#8217;s important. And then for our retailers that are traveling from across the country, we include their state and then pronouns, which is optional depending on attendee preference. One thing we learned was it&#8217;s important to have all the information on both sides of your badge, or have it more than just a one clip, have a two clip, because everybody&#8217;s badges are flipping. So that was something we&#8217;re fixing for twenty twenty five because we only did one-sided last year. In regards to saying what the event is on the badge, we have it very small because really the design is what ties it to the overall theme of the event. So, yeah, we don&#8217;t make that very big because that&#8217;s not the most important part. We wanna know who that person is so we can quickly see and connect with them. I would say most people don&#8217;t notice a good badge, but a bad badge can make a big difference. A good badge really should be pretty unnoticeable, but give you the information you need. If it&#8217;s taking away from the information that&#8217;s on the badge, then I would say that&#8217;s probably not a good thing. It&#8217;s impossible to lose with on-site badge printing. It will save you time and energy and mental well-being if you do it on-site. Your attendees can tell what you&#8217;re putting time and efforts and improvements into. And their first experience of your conference or of your event is that check-in moment. And then it gives you a good stepping stone for future years. I&#8217;m Cat, the Director of Customer Experience at EventMobi and I&#8217;m joined by Sveta. Hello, everyone. I&#8217;m the head of Product and UX Design here at EventMobi. And we&#8217;re here to reintroduce you to the Badge Designer to showcase some of the exciting UX changes that have happened and some of the new templates that we&#8217;re releasing. So we have Sveta to walk us through the product today, and I&#8217;m gonna be asking her a couple of questions so that we can take a little bit of a deeper dive. Alright. So starting off, maybe you can give us a little bit of an introduction about who the Badge designer is best suited. What kinds of events? What kind of event organizers? Absolutely, Cat. I would be happy to do so. So our new and reimagined Badge Designer is perfect for event planners or anyone who is doing DIY designs for their badges. It&#8217;s someone who does not have access to graphic design team, and it&#8217;s so easy to use that anyone without any background and designer access to design tools can create amazing badges for their events. If somebody&#8217;s already used the badge designer and they&#8217;re revisiting it now, what changes can they expect to see? Alright, yes, we do have quite a few changes added to our badge designer. So one of the first things you&#8217;ll see is that we&#8217;ve now added a new way for you to look at the sizes of your badges. We are now including a metric system in millimeters as well as inches. We also have a variety of templates that you can use. And within minutes, you can create a wonderful badge for your event. And, there&#8217;s, of course, a few new ways that you can preview your badges. And I&#8217;d be more than happy to show you that a bit later because there&#8217;s so many new changes and I want to make sure I don&#8217;t miss anything during my walkthrough. All right and maybe you can walk us through what the badge design process looks like for those that haven&#8217;t had the chance to try it out yet. Absolutely. I can&#8217;t wait to show you all the new features and all the new things that we&#8217;ve added. So why don&#8217;t you just take a look at my screen and what you&#8217;re seeing here is a reimagined Badge Designer experience. So first of all, I can show you where you can explore a variety of templates. So when you go to this page right here, what you will see is a bunch of awesome templates. The good thing is here is that we&#8217;ve done all the thinking for you. We have adhered to the best practices. So any designs that you see here, you can use them right away without making any changes or you can use them as a bit of an inspiration as to what information you might want to include on your badges. One thing you&#8217;ll notice here is that we&#8217;re including both front and back designs. So that will something that will potentially help you create more engaging and more interesting badges for your events. Now, if you wanted to begin the badge designing process from scratch rather than creating it off of a template, in which case, this is what the process would look like. Here&#8217;s what you can do. You can add a badge. And the first thing you&#8217;ll notice is that we want to know and understand specifically what method of printing you&#8217;re using though and that will help us direct you to the right template and to the right size. You will see that we offer print labels with the EventMobi On-site App. We offer preprint with EventMobi or do it yourself. You can print it by yourself at home or send it to your own printer. To make things easy for you, we have come up with a bunch of templates that adhere to best practices as well as the most standard sizes. If you are creating a badge for preprinted services with EventMobi, we&#8217;ll give you templates that adhere directly to those specific requirements. Here, easily you can add any kind of widgets. We have a text block or an image. You can add a shape or even a QR code. The good thing is about the QR code, it&#8217;s automatically generated for every attendee and it&#8217;s a unique code. So that&#8217;s a great plus. Within a second by just adding this graphical element to your badges it will be customizable to every single attendee. If you wanted to add all the basic information like the name of your attendee, first name, last name, company, maybe a title, all of this, all of the dynamic fields that you have access to, they&#8217;re synced directly to your people library, meaning that you don&#8217;t have to make any updates and all of this information is auto populated based on what each attendee has added to their profile, which is super easy and it&#8217;s a great feature to use that simplifies and expedites your Badge Designer experience. Now another thing you&#8217;ll notice is that here in the settings, you can assign these specific badges to either specific people or groups. And the way you would want to use this feature if you want your speakers to have different badges, maybe you wanted to highlight either branding or make the badges look slightly different, that could be done through this, feature right here. And another thing that you&#8217;ll see is that we&#8217;re now offering bleed. A bleed is a way for you to print your badges that will allow the artwork to go all the way to the edge of the paper. And you have an option to either enable it or disable it based on what designs you have. Our templates will automatically have this feature toggled on or off depending on what specific template you choose and whether you need the bleed or not. Now another great thing I&#8217;ll show you is this new preview options. If you wanted to see what will your badges look exactly once you print them out with lanyards and all, we have a great preview so you can take a look of what that looks like and you can test it out what it looks like for different staff members or for different attendees with real data. And as you can see here in the example, all the fields are being populated base on that specific individual. And from here on to make things super easy for you, you can export the file as a PDF and send it to your printer or better yet, why don&#8217;t you use our pre-printed badge services? What that does is when you go through the process, the checkout process, we will print and deliver those badges directly to your event. Time saved, money saved, what a great opportunity. Amazing. All of these updates look really great, super exciting. I think some of the key things that I really take away from these changes is just how much time it saves. And I really appreciate as someone that&#8217;s not very creative or artistic, having the ability to create really beautiful badges that follow best practices in just a couple of clicks using the templates that, you know, our professional graphic designers have worked on. So I think that&#8217;s really amazing. So number one is visual hierarchy, meaning what are some of the elements that should be highlighted more and what are the elements that should be highlighted less. As an example, your first name should always be bigger and more prominent so people can identify the person that they&#8217;re speaking to or trying to engage with, from afar. And, you also don&#8217;t wanna put too much emphasis on the actual logo of the event. It&#8217;s a good idea to keep it rather small. In some cases could be omitted completely if it&#8217;s an internal event. You probably don&#8217;t need a company name or a logo as prominently visible or present at all. Another thing you wanted to do is to make sure that you&#8217;re only including the essential information on the badge. So think of all the critical information that would be necessary for your specific event. So it could be the name of the person, their last name, company. In some cases, you may want to identify specific audience type like an attendee or maybe a speaker or an exhibitor. Maybe you want to highlight internal staff or your employees as a separate group. That of course will depend and you want to keep the overall design fairly simple, not cluttered and you want to use high contrast. Once again, it fits into the concept of, scanability so you can see the information from far away.
